Voted Best of Delaware!
Membership Types

Household

This is our regular or family membership. It requires a $100 investment, payable in quarterly $10 installments, and makes you a co-owner of the Co-op. This investment is paid in full within 2 1/2 years and amounts to 77 cents per week.

The first $50 of your investment is called the "subscription" and is the money we use to purchase food for resale to our members. The second $50, called the "physical plant fund," is nonrefundable and is used solely to maintain and upgrade our building and equipment.

Should you decide to give up your membership, the $50 subscription will be refunded at par or book value -- whichever is less. In recent years, our book value has ranged from 70% to 100% of par.

Student

For one individual only, a nonrefundable, per semester user's fee ($5 for spring or fall, $2 for winter or summer) gives you all the benefits and responsibilities of membership except holding office. This is ideal if you will only be in the area for a short time. A student may be part- or full-time at any accredited institution of higher learning. Students living under the same roof have the option of taking out individual Student memberships or one Household membership.

If you are out of town for the summer, or studying elsewhere for a semester or two, you need not pay the membership fee for that time. When you return to the store, pay for the current academic session to reactivate your membership.

Senior

This is limited to individuals and couples who are 62 years or older. A nonrefundable user's fee of $10 is paid each year up to a maximum of ten years, at which time your membership is paid in full. Seniors are not required to work in order to shop at working member price and they are granted voting rights.

Disability

This is available to individuals and couples who are unable to work due to a terminal, chronic, or other medical disability. Disabled persons are not required to work in order to shop at working member price and they are granted voting rights. Once an individual or couple feels they are able to volunteer at the Co-op, they may switch their disability membership to a household membership.
