Family Tree

Unusual varities of cacti, annuals, perennials, and house plants
Nick Castelli of Family Tree has been growing plants for over 35 years at his home in Nottingham, PA. He has a green house and cold frame, and starts many plants from seed. He recycles everything, including pots and containers that come from other larger companies' trash! He uses as many organic and natural treatments as possible. This past winter, he heated his greenhouse with a woodstove. He also keeps a giant vegetable garden. Nick has been attending farmers markets and fairs for years with his fun and unusual varities of cacti and succulents, vegetable plants, house plants, annuals, bedding plants, perennials and orchids. He is happy to answer any of your plant care questions.

Frog Forest Gardens

Daylily farm with Hostas, Cana, Lilies and selected perennials
Daylilies have been called the perfect perennial-and we agree! They are hardy, drought tolerant and low maintenance. Modern hybrids are very different than the roadside "tiger lily". Through the efforts of hybridizers of the last 50 years, daylilies are available in every color except blue. Plain or fancy, there is something for every taste. We have just over 600 named varieties, from the older classics to newer varieties with eyes and edges. Blooms begin in late May and continue through August and into September. Peak bloom time is mid-June to mid-July. Potted plants are available for purchase and bare root plants can be ordered for September pick-up. Bare root hostas are available in spring and fall. Asiatic and Oriental lilies are available in pots in the summer. The following perennials are available spring through fall: Astilbe, Coral Bells, Columbine, Coreopsis, Salvia (Sage), and Veronica.
We are located at 496 Old Elk Neck Road, North East, MD. Please call 410-287-5980 for information.
