Be Hands-On!
Be Hands-On!
The following are a few ways to earn work credit while helping the Co-op achieve its goals. Be creative in the ways you contribute your time and skills to your Co-op. When you arrive to work for the first time, let the staff know that you are new so that the proper procedures will be explained to you.
♦ Bagging: One of the most essential jobs is bagging bulk grains, nuts or dried fruit; for example, turning a 50-pound bag of oats into ten 5-pound bags. To bag, come into the store any time until 1 hour before closing, and tell a staff member you want to bag.
♦ Cleaning and Straightening: You can earn work credit by cleaning the store. Cleaning tasks include washing windows & glass cases, wiping off shelves, straightening and facing products, stocking self service areas of the store, etc. To clean, come into the store any time until 1 hour before closing, and tell a staff member you want to clean.
♦ Attending Store and Committee Meetings: Work credit is given for getting involved in the Co-op's meetings. For meeting times, check the bulletin boards near the store entrance or visit the Events section of our website.
There are many other ways to earn work credit! To get involved in these and other specialized tasks, please contact someone in the office (302-368-5894). Work credit opportunities include the following:
♦ Writing for the Co-op's e-newsletter
♦ Doing food demonstrations and sampling
♦ Helping in the office (making phone calls, filing, data entry, etc.)
♦ Planning and organizing events
♦ Cooking for special events
♦ Holding Co-op office
♦ Providing the store with organically grown produce
♦ Leading an orientation
♦ or tell us what you can do!

Work Instructions
Call ahead so we can set you up with a job when you arrive. When you arrive, let the staff know if you are new so that the proper procedures will be explained to you.
Clean up thoroughly before and after bagging or sampling foods. Cleanliness is the only alternative to insecticide.
Please do not come in to work if you are sick. Although we are a cooperative, illness is not something members like to share!
