Co-op Farmers Market Summer Festival

Celebrate the Summer Season June 13
The Co-op Farmers Market will celebrate the beginning of the summer season with a festival on Sunday, June 13. This family (and pet!) friendly, outdoor event will run from 10:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. In addition to the usual variety of fresh local foods, plants and crafts available at the Co-op Farmers Market, the festival will include live music from local artists, children's activities, a mini petting zoo, food tastings, and more! The focus of this year's summer festival is the local food movement. Several groups will be on hand to discuss the benefits of gardening and eating locally and offer advice on how you can get involved. All activities are open to the public.

10:00 am - 10:45 am - Rory Sullivan
Having been called one of the best new artists of 2009, Rory Sullivan is a talented 22-year-old singer/songwriter from Newark, Delaware who is bursting onto the music scene with all the passion and presence of a legend. Even as a young boy, fascinated with the sounds of The Beatles and James Taylor, Rory knew that he was destined to share his story through music. 11:00 am - 11:45 am - Michele McCann
Michele McCann is known for playing the hurdy-gurdy and a variety of instruments in the Folk, Celtic, French and Traditional genres. She performs in the bands Mythica and Slyte of Hand. Listen to Michele McCann with Mythica and Slyte of Hand.
12:00 pm - 2:00 pm - Chapel Street Junction
Chapel Street Junction is a five piece band based in Newark, DE. Instrumentation includes: two guitars, banjo, bass, mandolin and harmonica. Although rooted in Bluegrass, the band has many traditional Country and Irish songs, as well as some Ragtime and cover tunes. Homegrown Cafe and Crerand Ale House are some of the venues were they perform live. It's not uncommon for the band to have occasional guest musicians play with the band or alternate sets.
